Last Teaching Practicum

 LAST TEACHING CLASS

The topic for this class "Insects" and we focus on adjectives. The different adjectives were: Cute, horrible, cool, nice, beautiful, aggressive, disgusting, and lovely.

WRAMP

For the first activity I made a review of the previous class they have had. To see how much they know about insects and to see if they have learned some names of the insects. Students mention most of the names of the insects. Some of then where not pronounce correct, but I tried to helped them with that. 







PRESENTATION

Here I showed to Students different flashcards with the pictures of the insects and also I explain to them the adjectives. I tried to helped them with some mimics to represent the meaning of the adjectives. Another thing that I did was to showed them the differences between singular and plural. Sometime that I think that will help in this activity when we use adjectives is to represent the meaning of the adjectives by showing to them some figures that represent the adjectives. If we use this, for the Ss is going to be more meaningful.  But the kids understood the class and the adjectives that was the porpose for that they.








PRACTICE

This stage was composed with four activities.

  • In this activity i gave to Ss a worksheet in which they have to match the name of the insect with the picture. I made this activity with them to recognize the vocabulary.

  • In this activity I use some flashcards and sheet of papers with adjectives. Ss have to take one adjective and they had to pasted it on the board with the insect they had select. They must said the adjective that they had choose.

  • For this activity Teacher Alex use a worksheet to fill in the blank. Ss had some sentences in the worksheet and they had to complete it by putting an adjective that they wanted. Of course that each Ss will have a different answer because they had the opportunity to choose the adjective they wanted. E.g. The butterfly is cute / The ants are nice.

  • Ss play game called "peregrina". Teacher  was going to made a sound and I when the sound stops the Ss that was in the square number 6 was going to pass at the board and write on adjective. They had fun when doing this activity and they also, write the adjectives they had learned.














PRODUCTION

In this stage Teacher Alex gave to students a sheet of paper in which they have one adjective. Ss were going to pass at the fornt and made a sentece using the adjective and one insect.
This activity was a little bit challenging, but the get it. They made the sentences, they have the opportunity to practice twice. 






WRAP UP

In the final activity teacher use two rings and pencils. Ss have to pass the ring with the pencil and if the ring falls down they have to started again. Also, they have to mention one adjective. The aim of this activity was to review what they had learned. 


All I have learned is something new that is going to help me a lot. The experiences I have had are wonderful, joing with kids is something very interesting becasuse we do not even know what is going to happen. We learn with them too.

Fifth Teaching Practicum

FIFTH TEACHING CLASS!

In this time Teacher Alex and I taugth vocabulary about Nationalities. “Vocabulary is one of the important factors in all language teaching; students must continually learn words as they learn structure and as they practice sound system” ( Linse, 2005:121).


WRAM UP
  
In this stage teacher Alex made and activity in which students will have the oportunity to act. They will get a sheet of paper in which was going to be a name of a famous occupation. They had to made the mimics and their classmates must guess the occupation. We showed them how to do it. This activity was to review the previos class.




PRESENTATION

Here teacher Alex present the new vocabulary. Eight different nationalities were presented in flashcards. Also, teacher show the how to use the question Are you...? and the answer I am... This was going to helped them to made the production. They understood the vocabulary and the grammatical procedure





PRACTICE

We made three activities in this stage. In the first one teacher Alex past the flashcards on the board and each student have a sheet of paper with the nationality. one by one was going to pass and put the name with the flag they consider correct.

In the second activity I use a worksheet in which they had to match the flag with the nationality. this was to recognize the vocabulary.

 The last activity was filling in the blanks. There were some snetences in which they had to complete it with the nationality. They had to followed the sentence or the picture of the flag to recognize the nationality that they had to write.








PRODUCTION

Here I made a circle with the students sitting on the flour. I use a dice for this activity. And it was in pairs, one by one was going to throw the dice and get a flag. One students was going to asked Are you Canadian? and the other one was going to answer I am Salvadoriam according to the flag they get. They took turns until everybody participate. I felt excited because they could produce some words by themselves.




WRAP UP 

At the end of the class I use the dice to made the activity. One by one student was going to throw the dice and they will get a flag. Each student was going to said I am American according to what they got in the dice. This activity was to review the vocabulary they had learn.

Fourth Teaching Practicum





FOURTH TEACHING CLASS!

In this class Alex and I taught about "Professions" and the skill was reading. The experience were different comparing with previos classes.

When we get into the classroom all the kids were very restless. Alex and I were nervous because we thought that they were not going to handle. But then we could control them. I started with the class, and in the warm up I made a game to review the topic they had alredy known. I use a "kill Flies" and I wrote different professions on the board. i made two groups one by one was passing, I mentioned a profession and they have to hit the word that was on the board. I made this activity to review the topic.









The second stage was the pre- reading. In this stage I present the vocabulary some of then were new. I practice the vocabulary as many times as necessary, so they can have clear the different professions. After presenting that I made an activity to see if they get the vocabulary. This activity was with two puzzles. I made two groups and they had to fixed the pazzle and after they finished they had to meentioned the name of the profession they had.











Then I continued with the next stage that was During- Reading. In this stage I present the mini story that was called " Professions of my family". I read the story many times, so they can have clear what the story was about. They I gave to kids the story in a sheet of paper. And I gave to them two different topics. So they could recognize the differente vocabulary. They did understood what the story was about.



I was proud of myself because they always understood the class when my partner Alex and I taught to them. I always tried to give the best when I'm teaching. Is something that I really like and for the reason I tried to prepared in a good way the activities and all the class. New experiences are coming and we always learned something new. 
It is good to have the opinion of  somebody else so we can correct the mistakes the we are doing.

Third Teaching Practicum






THIRD TEACHING CLASS!

Experience about my third teaching class. The topic for this class was school objects using the grammatical rules (It is not and they are not)


In this class I felt more confident, I did not felt nervous like in the previos classes that I have taught. This class I started by teaching the second have of the hour. At the beginning I felt, and also teacher and classmates told me that I look like despirited, but then I look excited when teaching the class.



I taugth to kids the part of the practice and I felt that it was good because they understood the different instructions. We know that in every class they are going to be different activities that do not worked well. This happened maybe because of the lesson plans that we have made. And it is important that teacher let us know, so we can fixed it out. We made some activities that were not related to the lesson plan that we suppose to make. But anyway the activities work well with the kids. I also enjoyed the activities that I made with them.





Then I continue with the stage of production. I think that this part is a little bit challenging for kids because I have to make them speak a little bit. I felt excited to listen to them saying some words. They get the idea of the activity and they made the mini oral presentation.


The last part was the wrap up. I think that everybody enjoyed this activity. I sing a song called "London Bridge". The kids enjoyed the song and also they personalize the song because the same song was use for the warm up and the wram up as I mentioned before. So they made there own song; they really like it. I really enjoyed this part because I could sing and made some movements to encourage them to do it too.



 In each class we have fun and I try to improve the different this that teacher and classmates told me to improve. I felt very excited when I'm doing this because is something that I really like. Certainly we had so much fun with our classmates and also our teacher.

Second Teaching Practicum

SECOND TEACHING CLASS!

This is my second teaching class. I had new experiences when teaching the kids.

When I started to give the class, first I felt a little bit nervous maybe because I was thinking that it was going to be my first evaluation. Anyway I started bad because I forgot to to the warm up. So my beginning was not good because I forgot to do it. Then I started with the presentation of the topic. And it was good how I presented the family members, but the problem was that I did not presented the vocabulary with the pictures. Maybe doing that the students will have a better comprehension of the vocabulary. However, I notice that they understand and recognize the vocabulary.






The second activity that I made was a game called "Memory Game". I made this to have fun with kids but at the same time to help them to recognize the vocabulary and also, to encourage them to repeat the different Family Members. I notice that they enjoyed the activity.







This class was about reading and for that reason I tried to do something different to tell them the mini story about family members. I represented the different family members that appear in story by making some pictures like puppets. I was telling them the story and at the same time showing to them the different characters, so they can understand better  the story and they can identify the family members. I think that this activity worked well.



The second class that I have taught was totally different, I enjoy the class with the kids. I tried to improved some of the aspects that teacher and classmates told me to do it. I know that nothing is perfect, but I'm trying to do my best to help the students to have a meaningful learning. In each class I try that students enjoy but also learn. With my partner we tried that children feel comfortable. 

Something that we noticed is that kids like to have a recognition. For the reason, in the class we bring some stickers. Kids really like it because they were stars. So the students that finish the activity have one star. We noticed that they enjoyed the part because thet tried to finish quickly to have more stars.

First Teaching Practicum

FIRST TEACHING CLASS!

Hello everybody, today I will tell you about the experience that I have had in my first teaching class. at the beginning I felt a little bit nervous, but then everything went well.



I consider that to be the first practice we were not bad, I feel that we develop the class in a good way. I felt very good to see that children were happy and motivated to learn. A totally different environment live with them. I should mention that always in activities that we develop there are good and bad aspects to be taken into account to improve such as failures. I will let you know some of the aspects that I have to improved.


ASPECTS THAT I HAVE TO IMPROVED

1. Shhh: I make this sound when children were making a lot of noice. I know that I don't have to make the sound to get their attention. Solution: Something that maybe can work with kids is just to be quiet, in that way they will understand that teacher is waiting for them to be silent and pay attencion to the class. 


2. Write examples: I make one activity in which kids have to speak with their classmates, but it was hard for them to understand what I was saying. for example they were using " I like..." but it was hard because they didn't understand the structure. 

Solution: I should write or explain the structure of the sentence that I will use, in the way children will get the idea and is not going to be hard for them to follow the instructions.

3. Attention to the needs kids have: in the middle of the class one student was bothering another one. The kid told me what was happening, but I didn't do anything in the situation. Maybe because I didn't know how to tell him in English. 
Solution: we have to be very patient with kids and we must pay attention in the needs they have because if don't do it, They are going to feel that we don't care about their problems. So we have to go and check what is happening.



These are some of the aspects that I have to improved when teaching a class. It is important to have feedback because in the way we can make the things different and we can find different ways to solve some situations that happen in the classroom. I know that I have to taken into account the different aspects that teacher or classmates tell me to be better and is not good to take the opinion of other person in a wrong way. I know that we are human and we make mistakes, but in the way we can observe and analice the things that we are making wrong. I'm not saying that everything is going to be perfect, but at least we can solve some things and we have the opportunity to improved it.

Workshop Part 1.

Workshop Part One.


Hello people, today I will share with you my experience in the first part of the workshop that my classmates and I have had with our teacher Giseelt and teacher Geovanny, he is a specialist in art and culture. He started he told us to take off our shoes to feel more comfortable and leave the stress aside. Then, we continue by introducing ourselves and doing some activities to project our voice, to be more loud with our voice because in the way we can have the attention of our students. 





We learned that we must rely on ourselves. We must do things no matter what other people will say, we must be authentic. And also learn to make mistakes because of those mistakes you learn even more not to repeat the same. Also, we must have good communication with children. And knowing how project ourselves in the correct way  when we are in front of our students because our movements are very important.





In conclucion, I really appreciate the opportunity to share with my classmate and to do some activities that were different for me. For example: we make one activity the we had to guide our classmate and then we make an specific sound so, our classmate could follow us. That was amazing because in the way we learn that is not easy to guide or follow something or someone. And it is important that people feel trust in us.

Workshop Part 2.





Workshop Part Two.


Hi everybody, I will share the second part of the workshop. That was a different experience from the first one. At the beginning, we started by inflating a balloon. The balloon was going to be our life and we had to take care of it because their are some situations that can stop or burst our life.

We develop an activity in which we share some tongue twisters and stories with our classmates. We really enjoyed the activity that we make with teacher Geovanny because he helped us to project our voice when speaking in front of others.






Also, we make an activity in which we notice the importance of communicate with others. That we have to project our voice in front of the students because if we do not do it, they are going to understand what we are talking about. it is importat to talk face to face because in the way we will have connection with the other. 








The best part of the workshop was when we take some time for us. The teacher told us that we had to take our time do feel good. We can an activity in which we take turns with our classmates to make a massage. My classmates and I felt comfortable with the activity.



To finish, the two parts of the workshop were very interesting, we learn so many things. Different activities in which we had the opportunity to share and to communicate with our classmates. 




Introducing Myself

Introducing Myself

Hi everybody, my name is Dalila Mendoza, I’m 20 years old and I´m taking Teaching Practicum for Kids with Ms. Giseelt Romero. I started to study languages since 2014 at Don Bosco University. In addition, I´m studying teaching because I really like to help other people, and I like to work with kids. I enjoy when I see that people improve their learning by their selves and with my help too. I’m honest, sociable, talkative, and a kind person. 

I've been cheerleading in a band since 2012. Also, I am as a vocalist of a church choir, I practice three days a week for 2 hours. In my free time I like to listen to music, play soccer and share with my family. furthermore, this year I finish my social service, I was working with kids in the age of 8 to 12 years old. The was a big experience, I really appreciate the opportunity that I have had to teach children. Also, to share and have some fun with them.






My expectation for this semester is that I want to learn more about kids. Also, I want to improve my learning to know how I should teach Young learners in a correct way so, kids can have a meaningful learning. I want to be more creative so they can enjoy the classes with a good environment. To conclude, I will be sharing some information about my experience in teaching practicum for Kids.
